Over twenty million visitors arrive to the area every year, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world for honeymooners, families and backpackers alike.

For 27 kilometers (approximately 17 miles), these waterfalls span the border between Ontario, Canada and New York state. Even though they are far from being the highest falls on the planet (or even in Canada), they are incredibly wide and manufactures the greatest water-power in the world.

Maid of the Mist

Many attractions await the travelers who visit the area. One of the best known ones is the "Maid of the Mist" - a lavishing 30 minutes boat cruise that takes passengers straight into the current under the falls. The noise and splash are incredible, so keep in mind regular cameras are better left on dry land. You can get waterproof ones to document the experience. This cruise has been doing so since 1846 and has not lost any of its original popularity, so if you come in the middle of rush-hour, expect a long queue.

Queen Victoria Park

Queen Victoria Park is a beautiful royal garden which offers one of the best viewing points of the Niagara Falls, and it is better enjoyed during nighttime, when the waterfalls are illuminated (every day until about midnight). At summertime children will enjoy the grand fireworks shows which take place twice a week.

There is no shortage in things to do in the Niagara Falls area. Casinos, amusement rides, shows, wine-tasting, hikes, views, parks, museums and clubs - the options are literally endless. You can choose your style of trip and tour the area by helicopter, jet boat, foot or cable car.

The White Water Walk

If you enjoy a fine walk, "The White Water Walk", which is open in different times around the year, is a boardwalk that goes just by the rapids. It is an easy path and fitted for families. If walking is not to your taste, or if you enjoy a more exhilarating experience, take the cable car ride over the Niagara Falls' whirlpool. You can also enjoy the stylish Ferris-Wheel ride for an overlook of the area.

the Skylon Tower

For a nice break and a good meal, the Skylon Tower has a great observation deck a famous revolving restaurant which allows you to eat while you watch the breathtaking view of the waterfalls. Children can be kept well occupied with the arcade games in the bottom floor. Another option is Clifton Hill area which is literally made for tourists with such attractions as Ripley's Believe it or Not, fun labyrinths and the well-known wax museum.
