Enjoy a luxurious retreat for two on this beautifully converted 1945 boat ride away in its own forest overlooking the beautiful open countryside of Vinland. This is a great place for couples looking for a romantic getaway and allows you to be with nature, while also providing great access to some charming nearby towns and cities. I have located a location only 15 minutes drive from Elly and half an hour from Cambridge.
The boat makes up a large part of the total space which includes a bedroom with a king-size double bed or two singles. There is also an adjoining boat hut style building made of various reclaimed materials to house your eclectic industrial kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen includes a large antique workbench and sleek server sink, plus cooking hobs and a refrigerator. The spacious bathroom includes a private walk-in shower, toilet, and sink. However, if you prefer to enjoy your natural surroundings, you may prefer to relax and bathe outside in the secluded bathtub with a roller on deck.
The boat itself was originally called Anthony Stephenson and set sail from Penzance Cornwall. Transformed into a unique vacation getaway for couples, the modern indoor boat is designed to complement the beautiful oak beams and pine boards. You also have WiFi throughout so you can keep track of your emails, and there's also a TV.
The deck is made of reclaimed sleeping beams and allows you to rest in the warmth of the sunshine in a quiet private forest while enjoying wonderful views of the beautiful Vinland countryside. This is a great place for al fresco dining, or simply as a place to sit down with a drink while enjoying the sunset.
The boat is housed in a private, walled woodland of three acres, on a small estate where the owners lived on a 1760 Georgian estate with their goats, horses, dogs, and chickens. The owners are trying to lead a sustainable, environmentally friendly lifestyle, and as such the boat operates entirely off-grid using the renewable energy produced by the solar panels.
Go for fun outings in Fenland, or take your bikes for a hike. There is a lot of delightful countryside on offer, so prepare your lunch and spend your days enjoying your surroundings. The historic town of Illy in Vinland is also nearby and is home to one of England's most important cathedrals. Enjoy the great cafes, bars, and restaurants of this quaint city, as well as some great shops. The historic city of Cambridge is only half an hour away and is a great place for foodies, enthusiastic shoppers, and history buffs.
