All you need to know on the Colca Canyon of Peru

The Colca Canyon - Cañon de Colca in Spanish - offers travelers the chance to induce up close and private to countryside life in Peru, spot soaring Andean condors, bathe on the Q.T. Discover stunning vistas and thermal baths, stay in an oasis, and hike along dirt paths for three days in the depths of one of the world's deepest canyons. Colca Canyon is located about 4 hours outside of Arequipa. The best way to get there is to take a tour or excursion that includes transportation to and from Arequipa.

It should come as no surprise therefore that it continues to be one amongst Peru’s hottest experiences for those in search of adventure. Colca Canyon, the perfect place for peaceful relaxation and extreme sports, all under the watchful gaze of the King of that sky, the Andean Condor. Spectacular viewpoints, thermal waters kayaking, climbing, trekking, and other typical highland animals in their natural habitat and observing condors, including alpacas, pumas, and fishcakes One of these activities is provided by this valley and its temperate climate.     Colca Canyon is one in every one of those places in Peru that has everything. And more.

However, the design process for hiking the Colca Canyon is certainly less straightforward than for several of our other favorite hikes in Peru. Not only are there a minimum of half a dozen variants to the route which differ in duration, difficulty, and drama, but the transport connections from Arequipa to the several start-points aren't terribly straightforward, the myriad of various tour types may be misleading if you select to not fuck independently, and multiday hikers will carry (pretty much) everything with them on the trail. And that’s before we've even had to be compelled to that grueling switchback-heavy ascent on the ultimate day.
